How to Do 80's Make up and Hair

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Do you love that grunge look that drove adults crazy in the 80's? You know, the one that projected your uncaring attitude towards authority? Here's how to get started with it!

Steps

  1. Read the Things You Will Need at the bottom, and gather all your supplies.
  2. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and warm water; It simply won't do if you put make-up on a wet face.
  3. Take the liquid foundation and cover up blemishes, such as under-eye circles, and other dark spots. Do not cake it on pimples, as that will just make them worse. Always use a make-up sponge to apply it, never your fingers, and never use the sponge it comes with.
  4. Use a large make-up brush to apply powder over your whole face. Make sure it's all blended correctly before moving on to the next step.
  5. Take the eyeliner and line your top lid, bottom lid, and the skin right under your eye. Put on a lot, because you are going to smear it. To smear it, simply rub your fingers over your eye and it will smear. You may re-apply more according to your tastes. It's also really recommended to brush some black eyeshadow over the liner--it'll keep it from just dripping off your face and ending up on your cheeks.
  6. Take the eyelash curler and curl your eyelashes until they stand up by themselves. Then take the mascara wand and start on the inside of your eye tilting it outwards and brushing your eyelashes. After that is done, go to the outside of your lash and brush inwards. Then do the whole lash starting from the roots very slowly, going up.
  7. Apply the eyeshadow like you normally would, with a small make-up brush. You don't really want to use the little sponge things for this, because you aren't doing anything elaborate. Apply it so it comes up to at least your brow line.
  8. Apply the lip gloss. If you don't have some glittery frosted stuff, take clear lip gloss, and mix it with glitter.
  9. Tease your hair!

Tips

  • Be unique; you don't have to follow this exactly. It's also nice to have a signature something that you do with your make-up. Ex: a star on my right cheek.
  • If you don't dress 80's, this might look a bit out of place.
  • Don't get discouraged if you can't apply the make-up right. It might take a bit of practice.
  • Have fun!
  • If you have smaller eyes, the eyeliner trick won't work because it will make them look small and beady. So, if you have small eyes pick only one level of the eye to put the eyeliner.
  • Use a blue pencil to line the inside of lower eyelashes. This will create a dramatic contrast against the black/brown eye pencil that lines your eyes AND will make your eyes look unhumanly white.

Warnings

  • This look turns on emo freaks and hard core people
  • This look also is a small part of the London scene. This look is incredibly bold and it is so SCENE!
  • You may turn a lot of people off with this look.
  • You will get a lot of stares if you are going to do the whole look. You will also get a lot of compliments on how awesome and retro you look.

Things You'll Need

  • Eyeliner, preferably in black, but other colours work too.
  • Eyeshadow. Use either a very bright colour, or a very dark colour. Try not to match it with the eyeliner and mascara
  • Mascara
  • Liquid foundation
  • Powder
  • Make-up brushes. It's the brush, not the make-up, that makes it look right.
  • Eyelash curler
  • Lip gloss. In a frosted colour, or you can just use clear lip gloss and add glitter to it.
