How to Define Your Lips

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

What is your way of defining your lips? For some people it's to just dab on some lipstick, and for others it's to smear on a couple of layers of lip gloss. Well here's an article on how to REALLY define your lips - which means to show the beautiful, natural shape they already have.

Steps

  1. Find Your Shade Of Lipstick. In case you haven't noticed, red lipstick is so out. Pick a nude color to match your skin tone, only one or two shades darker. Some people like their color to be creamy and neutral, and some prefer it to be pink and fresh. Be sure it's not overly noticeable.
    • Some people like a glossy or shiny effect. Pick a lip gloss color to match your lipstick, or for a glassy effect, use clear. Make sure it isn't darker than your lipstick or it won't turn out right.

  2. Find Your Shade of Lip Liner. Lip liner is the part that defines the shape of your lips. It's not suppose to be too dark or noticeable. Use a color that is about one shade darker than your lipstick, or the same color.
    • Apply Your Lip Liner. Always apply it first before lipstick, or it will smear. Apply it by dotting it on the outer-edge of your lips, but don't apply it to the corners. Blend it in lightly with your finger or cotton swab.
    • Apply Your Lipstick. Apply one coat of lipstick. If your lips are chapped, apply chapstick before you apply the lipstick. Apply it only on your lips, do not let it touch any skin besides your lips! Be sure not to apply to the corner of your lips.
    • Apply Your Lip Gloss. This is optional, but it helps a lot! Apply one coat to your bottom lip, and one coat to the top. Don't rub your lips together. Now your lips are colored, softened, and totally defined!

Warnings

  • The only color of lipstick that makes your teeth look whiter is a blue-based red (not yellow-based which is most popular). No matter what color-based a lipstick is, nothing will make your teeth looker whiter unless you whiten your teeth and brush regularly.
