How to Apply Lip Color

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Lip gloss and lip stick can make your lips look fuller, glossier and better! They can add volume to your lips and make them appear bigger if you have thin lips. Below are some steps to apply lip gloss/lip stick.

Steps

  1. Choose the perfect lip gloss for you. Do you want it to be shimmery, clear, coloured, flavoured or sheer? There are many different kinds out there, so go shopping and take a look at whats available.
  2. choose a lip stick. Find the perfect shade for you by experimenting with different colours. For a safer option, use a nude lipstick. Most shops also have nude lipsticks with just a hint of colour. If you have pale skin, you would usually look best in rose pink, and darker skins look best in brown/gold shades. You should use creamy lipsticks to keep your lips moisturized.
  3. Decide whether you are going to wear lipliner. If you do, it should be neutral or match the colour of your lipstick.
  4. Apply your lipstick first. Stretch the lips and start at the center, putting on the lipstick to the corners. Blot the lipstick with a tissue. Make sure the lipstick has not smudged over the line of your lips.
  5. Apply your lipgloss. Either apply it all over your lips, or just apply it in the centre of each lip and rub your lips together to apply an even, thin coat.
  6. Use chap stick over your lips. This prevents or seals any cracks you may have. Chap stick can also help your lips from drying out.

Tips

  • Red lipstick works well as it shows up, but only use it if it suits your skin tone.
  • Try out lipstick colours in cosmetic stores, and staff there can assist you in choosing colours.
  • When you apply lipbalm on the final step, make sure it is clear. You can also by balm with SPF protection if you are going out in the sun.
  • Creamy lipsticks help protect your lips from drying out, and many have ingredients that keep your lips soft and help prevent the affects of weather.

Warnings

  • Make sure you're not allergic to the ingredients in your lipstick/lipgloss. Always check the back of your product for the ingredients.
  • Do not eat the makeup -- it is toxic!
  • Do not wear lip liner that is darker than your lipstick, as it can look horrible if your lipstick rubs off.
